Originally from Hawaii and having moved to Arlington soon after high school, I have seen this city grow from a regular American town to a bustling city striving to be just as lively and productive in growth as it’s neighboring cities Fort Worth and Dallas.
When I arrived in Arlington the Dallas Cowboys were on their Super Bowl run and it was a very exciting time in the city. Also brand new to the area was the Texas Rangers stadium that I had a chance to experience through an extremely hot summer baseball game! Since then many things have sprung up in the city.
UT-Arlington’s enrollment went from 25,000 to currently around 38,000, just second to UT-Austin’s 50,000 enrollment at the time. Dallas Cowboys stadium is now in Arlington at the monstrous AT&T stadium.
Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium- As the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas, this stadium epitomizes that! It’s gigantic, futuristic, impressive and very much an influencer in Texas’s construction vision of bigger, better and billion dollarish! Haha
Texas Live!- This is the latest and greatest hang out spot in North Arlington. There are many restaurants and bars to enjoy. Most locals have already heard of it and now out of town visitors are just now finding out it is the place to be when looking for a hang out spot when visiting Arlington for the first time. If you’re looking for a blend of food, music, drinks and relaxation, this is the place to be!
Loews hotel- This hotel is scheduled to open in August 2019. It will have at least 300 rooms and include a rooftop terrace and presidential suites, nothing ever like it to come to the city of Arlington. Conveniently located between the Rangers and Cowboys stadiums, this will be an extremely busy hotel and definitely worth checking out.
Aloft Dallas Arlington Entertainment District- This hotel opened in May 2019. It is in close proximity to AT&T Stadium, Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Park and infamous parks nearby, Six Flags over Texas and Hurricane Harbor. It has a music driven vibe and is very modern. They’re very first Live at Aloft Hotels event was on July 10th, featuring the band Cops and Roberts and they plan to have more at least once a month. This is currently the newest hotel in North Arlington and definitely the hippest as well!
This October will mark 10 years of me being a homeowner in the area and the growth has been phenomenal.
